ChurchBook for Windows + Funds (CBW41) has been withdrawn from marketing as of 7/9/05, and is no longer available to new users.  The CBW41 web pages are being left in place for the support of current users of that program.  An inexpensive migration to CB/DB is available to current users of CBW41 who aren't stuck with older, smaller computer systems.

ChurchBook for Windows + Funds (CBW41) is an object-oriented, inexpensive church accounting software program which includes church record keeping and the beginnings of church management which requires only a MS Windows operating system.  (CBW41 has a "big brother" for full church accounting which we call ChurchBook/DataBase; we will convert your CBW41 files to CB/DB table format if you decide to make the inexpensive upgrade to CB/DB. )

ChurchBook for Windows is an important start toward Church Management via  a combination of church accounting software and church membership software - all in one program.  It was designed as church software, not forced into a church software mold.

bullet

ChurchBook for Windows + Funds operates as CBW41.EXE, i.e. CBW Version 4, Program Level 1.

bullet

The CBW41 license fee is $250, which includes first-calendar-year support; this consists of program updates, and internet or telephone support for problems and "how to" questions
.

bullet

After the first calendar year, support for subsequent calendar years is currently $50; this  also consists of program updates and internet or telephone support for problems or "how to" questions.

ChurchBook for Windows runs on Windows 95/98/ME/XP.  It is an object oriented, file driven program with no other program dependencies beyond the Windows operating systems.  It is designed specifically for as church software!   There is no Apple/Mac version.

It has full Church Fund Accounting capability; it can manage more funds than anyone would reasonably want to manage.  Each fund is linked to a single asset, and each fund has at least one income and expense account in order to provide for debits and credits to it.  It does not require double entry; double entry comes from linkages between income/expense accounts and their "owning" funds.

CBW41 has full function for Income, Expense, Family and Member records.  The accounting (I&E) files are the master records to identify the purpose behind all receipts and disbursements by the church as well as the fund/asset that holds the monies received; the family and member records identify those who donate to the church (family units) and those who are members (the member records), and what activities they are active in.  Thus the income process tells who gave how much, when, how, and for what purpose.  The expense process tells how much was disbursed, when, how, for what purpose, and to whom.  This combination of church accounting software and church membership software in one program is the foundation of your church management program.

bullet

The fact that CBW41 is a file based system allows work to be done away from the main computer and the new or updated files to be ported to that computer when completed.  Obviously, control must be exercised to ensure that two parties are not modifying the same files.  The normal division of work is that the income can be processed in a different location from the expense.

bullet

CBW41 is able to be used on a Local Area Network, but can be used by only one party at a time.  It is designed for churches with minimal computer capability - it has no other prerequisite requirements.  In full operation, the hard disk requirements, depending on the size of the church, are in the 2 - 4 megabyte range, most of which is user data.

bullet

Due to the architectural requirements of the development software (Borland Object Windows), reports are restricted to fixed font at 10 characters/inch and 6 lines/inch.  On Windows systems prior to XP most printers will work.  On Windows XP, the Lexmark, Brother, and Epson printers using USB ports will not space properly.  (Our other product, CB/DB, does not have printer problems.)
