(This is going to sound a lot more complicated than it actually is.)
This form allows you to find and view any report in the system, in 4 steps:
In the "Select Type of Report" combo box, you choose the type (e.g., daily, monthly, annual, label...) of report you want, and tab out of the box.
(If you select the Label type, a button will appear on the form to allow you to go to the Label Selector. You must use it to select the source, content, and sequence of labels you want. After you have done, this, you can view the labels from the Report Selector, or cause them to be printed. Similarly, if you select the Sunday School Ages report, a dialog will appear asking you for a starting and ending date for your report. It will then select all members whose birthdays fall within that range and display them on the report.)
As you tab out of the "Type" box, that causes the list on the Report Selection combo box to drop-down. You can then type or scan the list to select the specific report you want. You then tab out of that box, and the description of the report, and the official name of the report, appear below the selection box.
The description panel provides a summary of the contents of the report. If special selection is involved, this is defined. In cases where there is an option as to what fields are handled, this is where that is described, e.g. All Families vs. Active Families.
Clicking on the Reset Date button brings up the Calendar form. You can reset the Day, Month, or Year.
Other types of reports (labels, individual statements, etc.) require that you identify what subset of records you want, e.g., Family or Member, what member, what fund, what asset, etc. For these you click on the appropriate button to select that subset. "Lookup" type reports require you to select either a family, income account, supplier/employee, or expense account from another form.
The Preview Report button: When you leave the Report Selection box, you set the focus on the Preview Report button. At that point, if you hit the Enter key (or click the Preview button), the report will appear on your monitor screen. If you want to read it on the monitor, you will probably have to do the following:
| Drag the window higher on the monitor screen, and drag the right side of the window to make it wider. | |
| Use the slides on the bottom and right side of the window to shift the report within the window. | |
| Put your cursor on the document to be viewed. | |
| Left click your mouse to "Zoom" the document to larger size. | |
| Use the slides again to position the document within the viewing window. | |
| If you don't see enough, you can click on the Maximize (square box next to the "Close" X) box. | |
| Again, you may have to use the slide bars to center the document in the window, and move it up and down. | |
| There is a control on the bottom of the window to move between pages. | |
| Before you close the window, click again on the "restore down" double-square box between the minus and "X" boxes in the upper right hand corner of the viewing window. This returns all windows and forms to their normal sizes. |
The Print Button allows you to print the report without previewing it. If you want to make sure the report looks right before printing it, use the preview report button covered above.
